3. They safeguard your personal details and will not pass them on to others without your permission. They should have privacy policies or statements which confirm this.
4. They publish their contact details on their websites.
5. They have clear returns policies, in case you are not happy with the goods purchased
6. Check delivery details and charges. Any delivery charges will be added at the checkout before you are asked for your credit card details.
7. Print out the order confirmation at the checkout stage. This should also be e-mailed to you, so ensure that your e-mail address is entered accurately when requested.
8. Save or print the traders web page advertising the goods or services that you are buying in case of a dispute

You have extra protection if you pay UK traders by credit card online. If you have a claim against the seller for breach of contract or misrepresentation. For example if goods were not supplied or were faulty, you may also have a claim against your credit card issuer even if the seller goes out of business.
This applies to goods or services costing more than £100 for one item (but less than £30,000) with UK based traders, even if you have only used your card to pay a deposit.
Remember, you do not have the same protection if you pay by a debit or charge card.
